Abstract in English
This bachelor project illuminates how winter swimmers experience that winter swimming supports their body awareness. In addition, it explains how they experience their options in the water and in their everyday life, as well as how we can use this knowledge in our psychomotor practice. This is investigated using 4 semi-structured hermeneutic research interviews of winter swimmers with different experience with winter bathing, as well as a research interview of a high school teacher who teaches psychomotor skills and winter bathing. By making use of hermeneutic analysis and interpretation, we have found that it suggests that the informants can use winter bathing to put words to their body, and that the cold water shifts the focus from the thoughts to the body. In addition, it may indicate that winter swimming can give them an increased sense of control and competence in their lives. However, there may be certain factors which may affect the prerequisites for this in an inappropriate way. In addition, it can be important that as a professional you pay attention to the dosage, the dialogue, the presence, the observations and the approach when you support others in using winter swimming therapeutically. The area is complex and requires further investigation.
